My Just-Right Book



The students brainstormed how to find their "just-right" book.  They are practicing how to do this when they sign books out of the library.  The book is not too easy, not too hard - it's JUST RIGHT!

The 5W's and 1H

The students are learning how to ask questions.  They have learned the 5W's and 1H.  Look at the questions they made.

Math: Whole Numbers

In science, we are learning about our bodies. 


There are a lot of new vocabulary words the students are learning.

Language Learning Goals for September

1.     We will show that we understand stories by indentifying the important ideas and stating some supporting details.
    I can identify the characters of the story.
    I can identify the setting of the story.
    I can identify the problem of the story.
    I can identify the solution of the story (How was the problem fixed?).
    I can identify the beginning, middle and end of a story.


2.    We will use appropriate punctuation at the end of our sentences.
    I can identify a period.
    I can identify a question mark.
    I can identify an exclamation mark.
    I can appropriately use periods, question marks and exclamation marks in my writing.







3.    We will create a storyboard for an important scene in a story and present it to the class.
     I can create and explain a scene from a favourite story.

October 5:   Picture Day for Grade's 5 and 6's
