The Skeletal System

We have now started to learn about the skeletal system.  They have learned that we have 206 bones in our body.  With a partner, the students will be creating a life size skeleton.  That will be fun!

Enjoy a silly song from You Tube about the skeleton:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e54m6XOpRgU&feature=related

The Muscular System

We learned that we have over 600 muscles in our bodies!  The students learned that without muscles we would not be able to move.  Our muscles work in pairs.  As one muscle gets longer, the other muscle gets shorter.  In class we created a moving bicep muscle.  It was a really fun activity!

Words of the Week

Here are the WOW words for this week.  We have three groups:  a green group, a blue group and a purple group.  The colour groups correspond to the colours of the WOW words below.  Please help your child study these words at home.

Literacy Stations

The students tried out the new literacy stations today and had a great time!  They were practicing the WOW words while having fun!

These students are at the listening centre listening to "Five Little Monkeys."

These students are playing the "Spin and Spell" Game with the WOW words.

Mrs. Naismith is helping these students use the WOW words in sentences.

These students are playing Spelling Showdown with the WOW words.

Each week, we have a new poem.  This centre has the students put the poem of the week back into order.

These students are playing Word Wall Hangman.

My Just-Right Book

The students brainstormed how to find their "just-right" book.  They are practicing how to do this when they sign books out of the library.  The book is not too easy, not too hard - it's JUST RIGHT!

The 5W's and 1H

The students are learning how to ask questions.  They have learned the 5W's and 1H.  Look at the questions they made.
