Math: Rounding Numbers

In Mrs. Dawson's math group we learned about rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000.
Remember the rule:
0-4 Round DOWN
5-9 Round UP


Round to the nearest 10:
37 becomes 40 (We look at the ones column.  The number is 7, so we round up).

Round to the nearest 100:
819 becomes 800 (We look at the tens column.  The number is 1, so we round down).

Round to the nearest 1000:
1999 becomes 2000 (We look at the hundreds column.  The number is 9, so we round up).
